[Trinidad, 28th February 2023] Local dental and orthodontic pioneer Shenilee Hazell attended the Jamaica Dental Association’s 59th annual dental convention with the honour of being featured as a keynote speaker in the prestigious event held in Kingston, Jamaica between the 15th and 18th of February.
The Jamaica Dental Association Convention is an annual event which brings together over 300 dentists, dental hygienists, dental auxiliaries, dental technicians, and dental students from countries spanning the Caribbean, North America and Europe.
Dr. Hazell had the distinction of being the only presenter from Trinidad and the Caribbean. Her presentation entailed a two-hour Lecture to a high-profile crowd which included some of the world’s top dental professionals. Her two-hour presentation “Creating Memorable Dental Experiences in Cosmetic Dentistry- Involving the Team to improve case acceptance” captivated the audience as she shared her vast dental and orthodontic knowledge.
The Smile Inn Dental founder stressed the importance of empowering patients with knowledge, allowing them to make clear and informed decisions about their dental health.
Dr. Hazell, who runs and operates Smile Inn Dental, a fully digital dental clinic in Trinidad emphasized the benefits of Investing in technology, focusing on the patient’s experience and building dentist-patient relationships over financial gain.
“It’s truly an amazing opportunity for someone from Trinidad to present at this esteemed convention in Jamaica. I feel honoured to be the only Caribbean lecturer for over 300 of the world’s top dental professionals.”
Dr Hazell is the first female dentist to be named as an official Colgate ambassador and is heavily involved in oral health promotion messages throughout various islands in the Caribbean. Over the past three years Dr. Hazell has been awarded the highest level of Invisalign provider classification in the Caribbean and is the only Emerald level Invisalign provider in the Caribbean territory.
The annual event is vital in giving both local, regional and overseas-based dental professionals a forum to satisfy their continuing education requirements for registration and providing an opportunity to keep up with modern advances in dentistry.
Given her extensive work in tooth alignment/ortho-restorative care, her lecture was a critical and valuable addition to the programme.
